WATERBURY, Conn. (January 25, 2011)--Bloomfield College defeated Post University, 89-81, Tuesday night in a hard-fought game that proved the Eagles belong among the conference's elite.

Reggie Holding led Post University (8-9, 6-3 CACC) with a season-high 17 points, and also grabbed 7 rebounds in a terrific performance.

Elon Howard added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles, and Cecil Stinson* chipped in with 12 points.

Post University led by as many as seven points (68-61) midway through the second half, and held a
75-74 lead with 4:33 to go, but was done in by a barrage of free throws from Bloomfield guard Gage Daye, the conference's leading scorer.

Daye poured in 30 points, going a remarkable 16-for-16 from the free throw line, including 8-for-8 in the game's final 3:43.

Bloomfield shot 22-for-27 from the charity stripe as a team (73.7 percent).

Ryan Rodrigues added 17 points and 5 rebounds for the Deacons (10-6, 7-1 CACC).

With the win, Bloomfield stretched its North Division lead to two games over the Eagles.

The Deacons come to the Drubner Center on February 15.

Post University will return to New Jersey on Thursday when they travel to Caldwell College to take on the Cougars. Tip time is set for 8 pm.
