Elon Howard
WATERBURY, Conn. (January 22, 2011)—Geraldo Fernandez is on fire. The 6-3 transfer from Sullivan Community College (N.Y.) scored a game-high 19 points, and Post University defeated Chestnut Hill College, 64-59 in Philadelphia on Saturday.

In just four games with the Eagles, Fernandez is averaging 17.5 points per game. He's torched the rest of the CACC from long distance, shooting 55 percent from three-point range. He also pulled down 7 rebounds in Saturday's victory.

But Fernandez wasn't the lone standout for Post University (8-8, 6-2 CACC).

Elon Howard recorded a double-double, putting up 10 points and 10 rebounds, and point guard Garvin McAlister had 11 points and 5 assists for the Eagles, who have won three of four.

Forward Dan Comas led Chestnut Hill (5-10, 2-5 CACC) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Khadim Ndiaye chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the Griffins.

The Eagles fell behind 20-8 and 36-18 before a furious second-half rally got them back into the game. Cecil Stinson* hit a jumper with 6:10 left to tie the game at 53 for the first time.

Post University never looked back, and two free throws by Garvin McAlister sealed the game for the Eagles, giving them a 62-57 lead with 34 seconds left.

The Eagles locked down on defense in the second half, holding the Griffins to a putrid 21 percent shooting.

The team returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Bloomfield College to take on the league-leading Deacons in a huge matchup.
