WATERBURY, Conn. (January 20, 2011)---The Post University men's and women's basketball teams travel to Philadelphia on Saturday to take on the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in an interesting doubleheader.
The action begins with the women's game, which features a great low-post matchup between the Eagles'
Raven Wright-James and the Griffins' Lindsay Alexander.
Wright-James is averaging 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for the Eagles (6-8, 4-3, CACC) who have won four of five.
Alexander leads the Griffins (4-11, 2-6 CACC) with 17.0 points per game, and is also second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 6.3 boards per game.
Sophomore guard Asha Jones has also been key for the Griffins, averaging 11.5 points and 3.4 assists per contest.
Post University's
Casey Brooks has been on fire recently, having poured in 18 points in Wednesday's 72-59 victory over Concordia. She was also named Post University Female Athlete of the Week.
The men's team looks to rebound from a tough, hotly contested, double-overtime loss against Concordia on Wednesday night.
The Eagles (7-8, 5-2 CACC) have received a tremendous boost from transfer
Geraldo Fernandez, who has averaged 18.3 points in just four games this season. Fernandez scored 22 in the 109-99 loss to Concordia.
Point guard
Garvin McAlister has also been on a recent tear, putting up 22 points in consecutive games.
Chestnut Hill (5-9, 2-4 CACC) is led by junior forward Dan Comas, who is averaging 18.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Griffins.
Guards Brandon Williams and Uros Kovacevic also average in double figures in points for the Griffins.
The action begins with the women's game at 6 p.m., followed by the men's tip at 8 p.m.
