C.W. Post defeated the Post University men's basketball team, 70-58, on Sunday in Brookville, N.Y. The Pioneers (5-6, 1-2 East Coast Conference) were led by senior forward Aaron Hall, who scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Guard Stephan Bonneau also had 19 points for C.W. Post, which led the entire second half.
Three players scored in double figures for Post University, including
Josh Lopez, who had a team-high 11 points.
Spencer Smith and
Garvin McAlister each had 10 points for the Eagles.
The Eagles (5-7, 3-1 CACC) trailed just 32-29 at halftime, but were outscored 38-29 the rest of the way.
It didn't help that frontcourt players
Rishawn Johnson and
Larry Smith found themselves in foul trouble in the first half. Johnson had three fouls at the break, while Smith and point guard
Garvin McAlister each committed two.
Post University was called for 12 fouls in the first half, allowing C.W. Post to score 10 points from the charity stripe (going 10-for-13).
C.W. Post shot 49 percent from the field in the game, including a blistering 60 percent in the second half. The Eagles shot just 35 percent for the game.
Post University will return to action on Saturday, when they welcome Wilmington University to the Drubner Center. Tip time is set for 3 p.m.
