WATERBURY, Conn (December 29, 2010) The Eagles (5-5, 3-1 CACC) face a huge test Thursday as they battle one of the top teams in the Northeast-10 conference in American International College (8-2, 5-1 NE-10).
Post University lost in dramatic fashion the last time they took the court, falling to Saint Anslem, 72-71, on a game-winning jumper from Hawks guard Thomas Baudinet. Eagles guard Spencer Smith had 19 points in that game, and is now closing in on 800 points for his career. Smith currently has 789. He is averaging 12.2 points per game this season.
AIC is led by junior guard Isiah Wallace, who is averaging 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Forward Allen Aragbaye isn't too shabby either, averaging 16.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.
American International is also known for being the alma matter of UConn men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun. As a two-time All-New England selection at AIC, Calhoun was inducted into the school's athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.
