WATERBURY, Conn.--(December 19, 2010) Thomas Baudinet knocked down a smooth, game-winning free-throw line jumper with 4.5 seconds left, and
Saint Anslem College defeated Post University, 72-71, Sunday at the Drubner Center.
Baudinet scored 25 points for the Hawks (8-1, 5-1 Northeast-10), who won their sixth straight game.
The Eagles (5-5, 3-1 CACC)took a one-point lead after
Cecil Stinson* hit a clutch three-pointer with just over 10 seconds to go, but Baudinet raced up the court, stopped at the free throw line, and calmly drilled the game-winner.
Post University had one last chance after Saint Anslem fouled Stinson intentionally, forcing an Eagles inbounds pass with 3 seconds left.
But
Spencer Smith's off-balance jumper missed, and Saint Anslem escaped with a one-point win.
Smith led the Eagles with 19 points and 7 rebounds.
Devron Washington* scored 11 points and had 4 rebounds for Post University.
Post University got out to a fast start, taking a 13-4 lead just six minutes into the game. The Eagles led much of the first half, before a 12-4 run gave Saint Anslem a 40-37 halftime lead.
Allen Harris matched Baudinet with a game-high 25 points for the Hawks, who received a vote in the coaches' top 25 poll this week.
Harris also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.
Four players scored in double figures for Post University, including
Cecil Stinson* and
Rishawn Johnson, who each had 10 points.
The Eagles return to action December 30 when they take on American International College at the Drubner Center.
