Men's Basketball Defeats Dominican 69-60 in Conference Opener

DOMINICAN, NY (December 1, 2010) Post University's men's basketball team lost the lead only once in the entire game against Dominican College en route to a 69-60 victory. The Eagles regained the lead with the help of senior Spencer Smith who tallied 18 points including 66 percent shooting from the field Wednesday.

Smith would put the Eagles on the scoreboard first with one of three buckets from long range. Post University would out shoot the Chargers 36 percent to 22 percent in the category.

Dominican's Leon Porter netted a three midway thru the first half to knot the game at 13, but by the halftime break it was a 9 point Eagle lead, 34-25.

Post University would extend the lead to as much as 14 in the second half by virtue of a team effort. Marquis Grant hit a jumper adding in a few free throws, Smith found the bottom of the net from the charity stripe, Ronnie Sawyer found success from long range, and Rishawn Johnson banked in points in the paint.

Garvin McAlister also contributed to the 69-60 win with 13 points and six rebounds for the senior guard.

The Eagles will return to competition at Concordia Tuesday night.
