Basketball Is Back:

The Post University men's basketball team will open up its 2010-11 season with a trip to Lowell, Mass., to
participate in the UMass-Lowell Tournament beginning on Saturday.

The Eagles will face the host Riverhawks, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, and then will take on Pace University on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Preseason Notes:

Post University has looked solid in two scrimmages this week, against St. Thomas Aquinas and Southern Connecticut State University. The team returns key guards Spencer Smith and Cecil Stinson* from last season's squad, which finished 9-9 in the CACC. The Eagles finished the 2009-10 regular season with wins in four of their final five games, before falling to Bloomfield College, 80-75 in the CACC Tournament.

New Kids on the Low Block:

The Eagles have a revamped roster, with nine new players coming in to play for first-year coach Al Sokaitis. Among them are power forwards Devron Washington*, Rishawn Johnson, and Elon Howard, who figure to play a major role in the Eagle's success this season. Washington was highly regarded out of preparatory school in Massachusetts, and was named co-captain along with senior guard Cecil Stinson*.

 Game One:

The Eagles will be taking on the defending Northeast-10 Conference champion in UMass-Lowell in their season opener, although the Riverhawks lost several players from last year's team. Gone are leading scorers Kyle Caiola and Kevin Carr, who combined for almost 30 percent of the team's scoring last year. Still, the team returns sharpshooting guard Matt Welch, who transferred to Lowell from Division 1 New Hampshire last season.

Game Two:

Post University will face Pace University (NY) on Sunday November 14 at 6 p.m., in its second and final game of the 2010 UMass-Lowell Tournament.

About the Pacesetters:

Pace University also features a radically different roster, as the team returns just four players from its 2009-10 squad. The Pacesetters (0-0) will be led by junior guard Adrian Mills, who averaged 13.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season.
