Game Notes: Eagles Football Plays Princeton on Friday

Game Notes
Post University's Third Sprint Football Game in Inaugural Season
Post University Eagles (0-2) vs.
Princeton Tigers (0-3)
October 8, 2010 - 7 p.m.
Powers Field – Princeton, NJ

This week:
This week the Post University Eagles travel to Princeton, NJ to take on the Tigers at Powers Stadium at 7pm. Both teams have yet to win this season. Last week, the Eagles fell to Cornell 22-14 falling to (0-2) overall, while Princeton lost a close battle against Mansfield University 10-6 with a (0-3) season record.

Last time out against Cornell:
Last week the Eagles took a tough road loss to Cornell 22-14 after leading a majority of the game. Post University scored the first touchdown when Dan Awwad caught a six yard pass from Sir-Darryl Johnson for the score, just six minutes into the first quarter. Cornell would tie the game in the second quarter at six apiece before making a field goal with four minutes to play in the third quarter earning a 9-6 edge.

Chris Tropasso ran for 69 yards to score Post University's second touchdown, as the Eagles took a 14-9 lead after a two point conversion in the third. Post University maintained the lead until midway through the fourth quarter when Cornell kicker Alex Perilstein connected on two field goals making it 15-14 in favor of the Big Red en route to a 22-14 Cornell win.

Blocked from victory:
The Eagles offensive line has struggled with their blocking assignments in the opening two games of the season. Cornell had eight sacks and Penn had five in the first two games this season. So far this season, the opponents have been able to put significant pressure on the Eagles quarterback.

Kingsley fires first pass:
Prospect, Connecticut's Cody Kingsley competed for the first time as the Eagles quarterback against Cornell. Kingsley completed seven passes in the game. His first three passes were complete for 52 yards. Kingsley ended the game with 83 total yards.

Short and sweet:
Post University quarterback Sir-Darryl Johnson has thrown a touchdown pass in each of the first two games this season. Although Johnson has thrown for 238 yards this season, his touchdown tosses only account for 11 yards.

Get them to the fourth quarter:
Post University has scored half of the season's points in the fourth quarter. The remaining tallies have come in the first and third quarters meaning the Eagles have yet to score in the second quarter.

Scouting Princeton:
A 10-6 loss to Mansfield at home was the closest margin of the season for Princeton after losing 48-12 to Penn in their season opener and then falling to Cornell in game two, 33-12. Princeton has played all of their games at home to this point. In the game against Mansfield, Princeton's John Moffat scored on a two yard rush in the first quarter for the Tigers only touchdown before failing on the two point conversion.

Kevin Infante has rushed the ball 74 times for a net gain of 115 yards averaging 38.3 per game. Quarterback Jais Zachariah is 23-for-62 with six interceptions for 345 yards in three games. Zachariah often connects with receiver Kees Thompson who has one touchdown this season.

Princeton is 3-for-4 scoring in the red-zone and has bettered their opponents in the time of possession battle.

A win over Princeton would:
If the Eagles can defeat Princeton it would be their first in school history in only their third game competing in the Collegiate Sprint Football League. Mansfield University, who joined the CFSL last season, defeated Princeton 33-0 in their first game.

Princeton's last league win came over Cornell 12-7 in 1999. The Tigers also won a non-league contest against VMI in 2005 winning 19-7. VMI only played two games that season as a club team.
