Women's Soccer Defeats Mercy in 2OT Thriller

Dobbs Ferry, NY (September 2, 2009) Post University's Women's Soccer team picked up its first win of the 2009 season in dramatic style against Mercy. The double overtime victory moves the Eagles to (1-1).

Rachel Shivers scored the first goal of the game in the opening half. The unassisted goal was the 19th of her career and first this season.

With time running out in the first half Mercy's Andrea Nash evened the score on a second rebound attempt from six yards out. At halftime the teams were knotted at one.

The second half went scoreless forcing the game into an eventual double overtime. Megan Hansen fed Rachael Shivers who scored her second goal to win the game for Post University.

Freshman goalkeeper Cassie Michel made 3 saves for the Eagles in her first full game.

The Eagles will play again on the road Sept. 6th at Bridgeport.
