Meriden’s Samantha Prescott to Play Women’s Soccer at Post University
WATERBURY, Conn (June 8, 2010) Meriden’s Samantha Prescott has signed on to play women’s soccer at Post University in Waterbury beginning in the fall of 2010. Prescott is a four year varsity athlete who has been named to the All-Conference as a defender twice while playing at Platt High School.
“I choose Post University because it is a small school so I would not be just a number, but a member of a community,” said Prescott. “My future teammates were nice and friendly and I know I will be able to focus on my studies along with soccer.”
As a senior defender, Prescott scored five goals in the 2009 season which earned her MVP honors. Prescott has played on premiere teams for the past seven years, including three years with the Academica Futebol Club.
“Samantha is a very good all around player who has both tremendous speed and great skill allowing her to play anywhere on the field,” said John Benitez, Eagles Head Coach. “We are looking to possibly use her speed and skill as an outside midfielder, but it will be hard to keep her out of the back where she has excelled as a very tough one vs. one defender in high school and on her premier team.”
Prescott intends to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice while attending Post University.
