Matt Micros

In his second stint his second stint at Post University, Matt Micros is in his sixth season guiding the Post University women’s soccer program.

In 2015, Micros led Post to an ECAC Championship with a 2-0 victory over Mercy. The Eagles defeated top-seeded Merrimack 5-4 to advance to the title game. Post finished the regular season at 11-6-2 and 9-2-1 in CACC to earned is second-consecutive conference tournament bid. 

In his first stint, Micros led the Eagles to its first CACC Tournament appearance in program history during the 2005 season. He followed that campaign up with an at-time program-best 11 wins in 2006, which culminated in the CACC Semifinals, the program’s best postseason finish ever.
 
After he stepped away from Post in 2007, Micros spent a year at Division I Quinnipiac, and three seasons at Wesleyan. While he was on the Cardinals’ staff, Micros helped the team to three straight winning seasons, and as many postseason appearances for the first time in program history.
 
Returning to Post for the 2011 campaign, Micros brought the women’s soccer team back to the CACC Tournament for the first time since 2008, and the Eagles took regular season champs Philadelphia to overtime in a 1-0 defeat. Grace McConnell represented Post on the CACC All-Tournament Team, while Micros mentored the CACC and ECAC Division II Rookie of the Year.
 
The next three seasons saw the Eagles rebuilding as they went from 4-12 in 2012, to its best record since 2006 at 7-9 in 2013, with the team narrowly missing the CACC Tournament. Tessa Dunster led the CACC in goals (11) and points (27) and was named First Team All-CACC and All-East Region.
 
In 2014, Micros improved on the year before once again and led the Eagles to a 9-2-1 conference and 12-6-1 overall record--the best record in program history. After being tabbed to finish 11th in the pre-season poll, the Eagles finished 2nd in the regular season and reached the CACC Championship Match, before being defeated by Philadelphia University. Coach Micros was named CACC Coach of the Year and Renel Dennis took home CACC Player of the Year honors.
 
In addition to his duties at Post, Micros is co-owner of the Connecticut Football Club (CFC) based in Hamden. The club hosts over 80 teams from U9 programs to college age U19 teams and is currently among the top 20 club programs in the country.  An accomplished novelist, Micros has written and published six novels.
