Jim Griffin was named the first-ever head coach of the Post University men's lacrosse program on March 13, 2012. Griffin lead the Eagles into their first season of varsity competition in 2014.
 
On Feb. 22, 2014, the Post University men’s lacrosse team took the field for the first time ever as an NCAA Division II program. Post defeated Ohio Valley by a score of 13-7 in their first-ever game and followed that up with their first home victory against American International by a score of 11-9.  Griffin and the Eagles started the inaugural season 3-1 in their first four games. On April 19, 2014, Post scored 24 goals in a victory over Alderson-Broaddus.  He led the Eagles to four wins in their first season and mentored All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) selection freshman Jack Kearney.  
 
In 2014, Griffin had two of the top five freshman in the nation in goals and assists and three freshman with over 35 points. The Eagles scored 138 goals in their first season, averaging 9.2 per game.picked up  425 ground balls, and had an average of 30 shots on goal per game.  In 2014, Post shared the field with five teams ranked nationally in the Top 15 of NCAA Division II with games against New York Tech, Molloy, Dowling, and Chestnut Hill.
 
Griffin was also elected to the NCAA Advisory Committee by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) to represent Division II Men’s Lacrosse.

Prior to Post, Griffin was the head coach at NCAA Division III York College of Pennsylvania.for seven years and was heavily involved in the launch of its men’s lacrosse program. 
 
In his seven years at York, Griffin amassed an overall record of 56-48 and 26-23 in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). He is the all-time leader in wins at York, and ranked fifth in the conference in wins (26) and winning percentage (.531). In addition to his post as the men’s lacrosse coach, Griffin also served as an Academic Advisor for the Sport Management program.
 
Griffin brought the program to its first winning season in 2006, a squad that finished with an 11-5 record. The win total set a single-season record for victories. The Spartans also earned their highest finish in CAC history.Griffin mentored NCAA Division III All-Americans and produced a NCAA Statistical Champion in 2006. Josh Papsan led the Spartans and the nation with ground balls per game. Under his watch, York’s men’s lacrosse program produced the first Academic All-American and Division III All-American in 2009.

During his collegiate career, Griffin played midfield at NCAA Division II powerhouse, Limestone College under head coach Mike Cerino. He earned his degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. After Limestone, Griffin played with multiple post-collegiate lacrosse teams in the Central Atlantic Lacrosse League before beginning his coaching career at York in 2002.

Before Limestone, Griffin played junior college lacrosse at CCBC Essex, who were ranked fifth nationally, and played his high school lacrosse in Baltimore, Md.
 
Griffin resides with his wife Hollie and daughter Cassidy. Hollie is a Post University online professor for Environmental Science and Biology.
