Derek Marks enters his second year as Post men's lacrosse head coach in 2016-17. He led the Eagles toa 6-8 record during his first season at the helm. Marks served as the Eagles' assistant during their first year in 2014 and spent the 2015 season as an assistant at Fairfield before returning to Post.

He ran the substitution box for the Stags and was integral in player development and the day-to-day operations of the men’s lacrosse office. Fairfield won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Regular Season Championship with a 9-6 record and were ranked as high as No. 18 in the nation.

At Post, Marks was the top assistant under head coach Jim Griffin for the men’s lacrosse team’s inaugural season in 2014. The Eagles won four games that year and boasted an All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) performer.

Marks was the head coach at Mitchell College for three seasons. In 2011, he led the Mariners to a 9-4 record and an appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Regional Playoffs. Mitchell repeated that feat in 2013.

Prior to coaching, Marks was a two-sport athlete at Sacred Heart University. He played two seasons on the lacrosse team in the defensive midfield at both short and long pole. Marks was also an All-American punter for the football team. He graduated as the Pioneer’s all-time leading punter and holds the school records for single-season (39.8) and career (38.4) yards per attempt.

A standout athlete at East Lyme High School, Marks earned all-conference and all-state honors in both lacrosse and football during his career. He played in the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Lacrosse (CHSCA) All-Star Game and led the Vikings to a Class L state championship in 2004.  He also works with Shoreline Lacrosse, a youth lacrosse organization in Connecticut.
