WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the third consecutive year and fourth time in program history, Post University Men's Basketball earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award while seeing a program-record-tying six players named to the NABC Honors Court as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Finishing with its highest GPA when earning the team award, the Eagles closed the 2025-26 year with a 3.28 GPA, surpassing last year's program record in which they had a 3.27 GPA en route to the honor from the NABC. In all three years prior, Post has had student-athletes on the NABC Honors Court, this year netting six with graduate students
Derrick Thomas II, Cape Holden, and
Gianni Thompson, along with seniors
Tre Duncan and
Lawrence Lazaro, and junior
Ta'Quan Williams.
The NABC Honors Court list encompasses junior, senior, and graduate students who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher on the men's basketball team.
Across all levels, over 2,300 players were named to the NABC Honors Court, while over 400 teams were awarded the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
