Maunders Magic Strikes at LaMoy, Men's Lacrosse Downs Georgian Court with Freshman's Last-Second Goal

WATERBURY, Conn. –  Freshman attacker Cameron Maunders shut the door for Post University Men's Lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in the 2026 conference opener for the Eagles, scoring with 20 seconds left against Georgian Court University to lead Post to their first win against the Lions since the 2022 season, 11-10. The goal was the second of the game for Maunders on a day where the two teams battled to eight ties, but only two lead changes throughout.

THE BASICS

Post University 11, Georgian Court University 10

Post University (3-1, 1-0 CACC)

Georgian Court University (0-4, 0-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
At the start of the game, it was all Georgian Court as they scored three of the first four goals between the two sides to take a quick 3-1 lead with sophomore goalie Aiden Waller in net for the Eagles and two points via a goal and an assist for senior midfielder Harrison Jordan in that span. However, junior midfielder Gabe Roman started a 3-0 run for Post, giving them their first lead of the game, 4-3, in the second quarter with his man-up goal. On the day, both sides limited the penalties to the tune of just three, combined with the Eagles killing off the one they had while converting on the two man-up chances they had in the first and fourth.

Sophomore midfielder Will Brien and senior attacker Leighton Cooke scored the other two goals on that run, as the Eagles trailed just once the rest of the game, as the Lions would only be able to tie it up on multiple occasions otherwise, but never pull in front after that hot start. Post's 3-0 run turned into a 5-1 finish to the first half as Roman scored again, along with sophomore midfielder Kegan Swain, giving Post a two-goal advantage at halftime, 6-4. Swain finished the game with three ground balls and an 8-for-14 performance in the faceoff circle on a day where Post was just 11-for-25 as a team.

Momentum would continue to swing wildly in the second half with freshman attacker Connor Forlai and junior midfielder Zach Myers scoring just over two minutes apart against Waller to tie the game back up at seven before Brien broke the run with his third goal of the game. Senior midfielder Tyler Burns looked to put the Lions in control after scoring back-to-back goals to end the third and start the fourth, putting Georgian Court back ahead by one, 9-8, but the Post defense would clamp down while Maunders and Brien each scored to regain the lead with 7:15 left in regulation,

As part of what was a five-point game for Jordan, his third and final goal of the afternoon tied the game up at 10 with five minutes remaining, at which point a stalemate would break out until the final minute. With Post controlling the ball and under a minute to go, senior defender Hunter Rindos was called for a hold, giving Post a man-up advantage and a chance to win it, which Maunders did with 20 seconds before the defense held on with Waller in net for the 11-10 victory. The sophomore goalie finished with 16 saves while senior goalie Vincent Burkhart tallied 17 saves for the Lions, along with Jordan, Burns had a five-point day for Georgian Court with three goals and two assists, like Jordan.

Senior attacker Ryan Denike struck for five assists as part of his 11-point week for the Post offense, while the defense was led by Brien's four ground balls and 10 total caused turnovers between nine different players, led by two from sophomore defender John Karas
