CALDWELL, N.J. – Sophomore infielder closed out a week in which she hit .667 for Post University Softball, including hitting her first collegiate home run on Tuesday afternoon against Caldwell University, but the three-game winning streak would come to an end for the Eagles as they were swept by the Cougars on the road, 5-4, and 8-0 in five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 4, Caldwell University 5
Looking to continue her magic from yesterday's no-hitter against Chestnut Hill College, sophomore right-hander
Meghan McGurk allowed a second-inning double to freshman outfielder Kendall Mazur, her first hit allowed during the week. Freshman infielder Emerson Jarrard would end up knocking in a run for the Cougars on a sacrifice bunt, which was the first of four runs allowed by McGurk.
Freshman outfielder Melissa Lugo would lead off the third with a bunt single before stealing two bases and coming home on a throwing error by graduate catcher
Sydney Jones in the third, extending that Caldwell lead to two runs, 2-0, before Post got both runs back with one swing of the bat. An inning later, Tompkins hit her first collegiate home run, a two-run shot, to tie things up at two all as part of her 3-for-3 game.
But the Cougar offense responded with three more runs off McGurk, who ultimately took the loss, as RBI singles from Lugo, Jarrard, and sophomore second baseman Maddie Matokosky between the fifth and sixth innings turned the tide back in favor of Caldwell, who led by three, 5-2.
Junior right-hander Katie O'Connor would not be able to just cruise to a win in the circle, as she loaded the bases with Eagles in the top of the seventh with two outs. Sophomore infielder
Alexandra Bisceglia would look to deliver the game-tying hit, as her double went to the wall near center field. While two runs came in on the play, sophomore outfielder
Hannah Searles would get thrown out retreating to third, ending the three-game winning streak for Post in a 5-4 loss.
Game 2: Post University 0, Caldwell University 8 (5 Innings)
Sophomore right-hander Haleigh Fisher shut down the Post offense in her five-inning win, allowing no runs on two hits, while striking out seven Eagle hitters and allowing just one walk. Both Tompkins and graduate infielder
Nyla Sapia were the only two Post batters to reach base via a hit, while Bisceglia saw her 12-game on-base streak come to a close as she was 0-for-2 in the contest.
Caldwell's offense jumped all over graduate right-hander
Katelyn Lipsky, tagging her for six runs on eight hits with three walks and a wild pitch, as she saw her three-game winning streak in the circle end with the loss. Lipsky lasted just three innings before junior left-hander
Devin Barnett came in and ended up allowing the final two runs that would allow the Cougars to force the mercy rule.
Both Jarrard and sophomore catcher Arlette Batista finished with three RBIs each for Caldwell, as they were a combined 4-for-4 with a double apiece and a triple for Jarrard. Sophomore third baseman Lindsay Oller and junior outfielder Kenzie Nazionale were responsible for the other two run-scoring hits via RBI singles in the 8-0 win.
