HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 1, Goldey-Beacom College 9 (5 Innings)
Freshman right-hander Madison Ore got the win on the mound for Goldey-Beacom, her third of the season, as she spun four innings of four-hit ball, allowing one unearned run while striking out two and walking one. Meanwhile, the Lightning offense would string together 11 hits offensively against sophomore right-hander
Meghan McGurk in her five innings of action.
Freshman outfielder Ayri Hansen fell a home run short of the cycle for the Lightning, going 3-for-3 with a single, double, and a triple while driving in two runs and scoring two runs. As a team, Goldey-Beacom had five stolen bases on graduate catcher
Sydney Jones, who offensively had a single during her 1-for-2 game and threw out a baserunner.
Post's lone run of the eight-run, five-inning mercy rule came on a fielding error by freshman infielder Jillian Coulburn, allowing sophomore outfielder
Isabella Oliver to score as she was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored in the loss. McGurk suffered her first defeat on the mound, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits with four walks and a strikeout.
Game 2: Post University 3, Ursuline College 7
Sophomore pitcher Macy Searles spun a gem for the Arrows to get them their eighth win of the season and her fourth on the mound. Before being lifted after 5 1/3 innings and throwing 68 pitches, Searles allowed just one hit, the first of freshman infielder
Haley DiBona's career in the second inning, while striking out 10 batters.
In relief of her, freshman pitcher Olivia Franko closed out the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits with a walk. Junior utility player
Allysa Calabrese registered the first run of the game for Post, an RBI double in the sixth inning, while the two other Eagle runs came in the seventh on sophomore outfielder
Hannah Searles reaching base on an error. Searles would get thrown out on the base paths in a rundown after two runs crossed the plate to end the game in a 7-3 defeat for Post.
Sophomore infielder Heidi Earl dealt the big blow during a five-run inning for Ursuline with a bases-clearing triple during her three-RBI game in which she was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Graduate right-hander
Katelyn Lipsky took her second loss of the season on the mound for the Eagles, going five innings, allowing six runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
