Felician snaps Eagles' conference win streak, 1-3, at Drubner Center Wednesday night

WATERBURY, Conn. (Oct. 28, 2026) -- Eagles Volleyball dropped its first conference match since October 10 Wednesday night against Felician University at home.

The Eagles and Golden Falcons headed into the match each with a 6-5 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference record, the tiebreaker held by Felician after winning the pair's last matchup, 0-3 on their home court.

On the Eagles' home court, Post outside hitter, Elyana Ortiz, led her team with seven kills in the match, closely followed by four teammates who each had six kills -- Alani Duncan, Duru Karagoz, Lilly Chavez and Kelsea Moore. Freshman setter, Grace Tucker, had 21 assists and no errors, efficiently running Post's offense, and libero, Lola Chagnon, led the Eagles in digs with 14.

On Felician's side of the net, freshman outside hitter, Payton Kellam, had her way with 17 kills, Rowan Jensen right behind with 14. Libero Kayden Mallette finished with 25 digs, setting the tone and sparking her team's offensive system, leading to 31 assists from Bentley Rone and an additional 21 from Sophia Watterson.

THE BASICS

Felician: 15-11 (7-5 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles took the first set at Drubner Center after beginning the match with high energy. Nine set errors from the Golden Falcons helped the Eagles jump to a lead, adversely affecting Felician in already unfamiliar territory.

Six second set errors by the Eagles helped Felician the same way, but outside hitter, Kellam, smashed five kills on Eagles court to gain her team the momentum, while Jaida Rainey added another four.

In the third set, the Eagles struggled to strongly attack, only attempting 17 times in the set, compared to 32 efficient attacks from the aggressors, who converted on nearly 44 per cent of their attacks in the set. The Golden Falcons' offensive rhythm flowed, and the Eagles rapidly lost momentum.

In the final set, the Eagles attacked at a .077 clip, their lowest of the match, while Felician's Jensen had seven kills in the set, including the final point of the match in a strategic tip that fell just behind the Eagles' blockers, too short for Post's back row to dig.

WHO'S NEXT

Post will take on intra-state rival, University of Bridgeport, Saturday October 31 at the Purple Knights' home base at noon. The pair battled once this season at Post, with the home team losing, 1-3. Bridgeport sits just behind Post in the CACC's North Division with the #4 seed and a 4-7 conference record.
