Women's Ice Hockey shutout by Merrimack in first-ever matchup

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Oct. 23, 2026) -- In the pair's first-ever meetup, the Eagles Women's Ice Hockey lost at Merrimack College Friday evening, 0-3.

THE BASICS

Post 0, Merrimack 3

Merrimack: 2-4-0

HOW IT HAPPENED

With two goals in the first period alone, the Warriors imposed dominance on their home ice at Lawler Arena. Just three minutes into the game, Danika Dureaa took the Warriors' second shot of the game, firing at Eagles goalie, Alex Young, and introducing herself to Post with quickness with the game's first score. The Eagles responded by finding open looks at Merrimack's net, firing seven shots in the following minutes, all stopped by Warriors goalie, Machala Musty.

At 16:11 in the opening period, Emma Pfeffer scored the Warriors' second goal of the period, assisted by Kilah Hodder, after her own team continued firing at Young and the Eagles defense. The Eagles blocked 10 shots throughout the game led by Tallulah Cameron and Rylie Griffiths.

With the clock winding down in the second period and just over five minutes to play before the next break, Abigail DeAnzeris fired her team's third and final goal into Eagles net. Both Young and Musty stopped nine shots in the period, and the Eagles defense blocked five shots in the period alone.

Although Post began the final period with a power-play advantage due to Merrimack's body-checking and delay of game, the Warriors outshot the Eagles in the period, 13-6, after two power-play opportunities of their own. Four of Post's third-period shots came during what could have been a momentum-providing power-play opportunity in the opening minutes.

The Warriors outshot the Eagles in the game, 32-23, and controlled the faceoff circle as they won 31-51 faceoffs.

WHO'S NEXT

The Eagles will receive a two-week break from games before resuming action on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at New England Women's Hockey Alliance opponent, Franklin Pierce University. The Ravens were selected third overall in the NEWHA preseason coaches' poll.
