Women's Ice Hockey Drops Final Regular Season Matchup with Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior forwards Tristan Currie and Maddy Noonan each scored for Post University Women's Ice Hockey, but the Eagles would fall for the second consecutive day against Saint Anselm College on the road, dropping the final game of the road trip, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Post University 2, Saint Anselm College 5

Post University (9-18-1, 9-12-1 NEWHA)

Saint Anselm College (15-12-1, 15-6-1 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Like yesterday's game, the scoring trends were about similar for both sides as Currie gave Post the lead first with her goal at the 6:03 mark of the first, which gave way to three consecutive goals from the Hawks' offense through the first and second periods, allowing them to regain control, 3-1.

Junior defenseman Brenna Young had a first-period power play goal around senior forward Brooklyn Schneiderhan and freshman forward Ava Hunter's goals to help build that two-goal lead for Saint Anselm. Hunter's game-tying goal came only 3:03 after Currie's shot on freshman goalie Kayla Czukoski, beating senior goalie Hannah Saunder.

Cutting into their deficit, as they did the night before, Noonan rifled home her shot that brought Post back within one, 3-2, which would remain the margin heading into the third and final period, where the Hawks scored twice to pull away. Saunders would close with 42 saves in net for the Eagles, while allowing a third-period goal to senior forward Mackenzie Moss.

Freshman forward Grace Stirling iced the game with an empty net shorthanded goal for the Hawks with just over two minutes remaining, giving them the weekend sweep with a 5-2 win. Post closed the day going 0-for-4 on the power play, including 0-for-2 in the third period, where they manufactured five shots against Czukoski, who closed with 24 saves.
