HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior guard Taylor Hinkle got the Tigers off to a 6-0 start, as they would never look back in the affair. Hinkle finished the first half with 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting, including tying for the team lead in rebounds with five on a Holy Family team that won the battle of the boards by a 27-7 margin.
Junior forward Kara Meredith also finished the opening half in double-digits, notching 10 points on 3-for-5 shooting, as the Tigers closed shooting 15-for-28 (53.6%) overall and 4-for-12 (33.3%) from three. Four different players for Post had two points in the first half as the Eagles missed all 10 of their shots from beyond the arc and were only 4-for-25 (16%) from the floor with 13 turnovers.
Leading 41-8 at halftime, Holy Family held an 18-0 edge in points in the paint as well as a 9-4 lead in points off turnovers and committed just one foul. The Eagles were held scoreless over the final 5:03 of the second quarter, getting held to just two points in that frame, and went 1-for-17 on their final 17 shots of the first 20 minutes.
Post's offensive output in the fourth quarter alone nearly matched their efforts from the first three quarters of action combined, scoring 13 points, but allowing a game-high 25 points to the Tigers. Rossignol ended up finishing with the team lead in points, scoring 10 on 4-for-14 shooting, as the Eagles finished 12-for-49 (24.5%) as a team, while hitting just two threes, both of which were in the fourth after starting 0-for-13 from long range.
Meredith led Holy Family's offense with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting in only 18 minutes played, followed by Hinkle's 17 points, as the Tigers shot 33-for-62 (53.2%) from the floor in the 59-point victory, 87-28. The 28 points from Post were tied for the fewest they have scored in a single game with their performance against Franklin Pierce University (93-28) on December 14th, 2007, and against Atlantic Union College during their inaugural 2000-01 season (72-28).
