Forde Finishes with Career-High 11 Points in Women's Basketball Loss to Felician

WATERBURY, Conn. –  Sophomore guard Kamyrn Porter scored a career-high 20 points for Post University Women's Basketball, while sophomore forward McKensi Forde also had a career game for the Eagles with 11 points, but a strong second half by Felician University would sink Post for the second consecutive game, 65-56, in the Drubner Center on Tuesday night.

THE BASIC

Post University 56, Felician University 65

Post University (7-11, 5-8 CACC)

Felician University (15-6, 10-4 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Felician early on as they jumped out to a 16-4 lead behind sophomore center Stephanie Formby's six points, which would be the only six she had of the first half in 12 minutes played, going 3-for-4 from the field. Junior forward Ane Valle nearly had a first-half double-double with eight points on 3-for-5 shooting and a team-high nine rebounds for a Golden Falcon team that outrebounded Post by a 27-17 margin.

Post would wipe away that 12-point deficit, closing the first quarter on a 7-2 run, cutting it down to seven points after a buzzer-beater layup by Forde. The sophomore had eight first-half points, leading the Eagles on 4-for-6 shooting as Post finally pulled even at 20-all on sophomore forward Tiara Tyson's layup with 5:22 left in the second. Taking their first lead since it was 4-2, Tyson's three-point play moments later would make it a 23-22 game.

Both sides would exchange leads across the final three minutes, leading to Felician holding a one-point edge at the halftime break, 28-27, after Valle's jumper following an offensive rebound by freshman forward Lilla Szilvassy with 15 seconds left.

Beyond Forde's team-leading eight points, Porter had seven points on 3-for-6 shooting, as the top two scorers for an Eagles team that was 12-for-35 (34.3%) from the floor. Both teams were scoreless from beyond the arc, going a combined 0-for-7, while the Golden Falcons closed at 12-for-29 (41.4%) overall.

The Eagles would never be able to regain the lead or tie it up throughout the entirety of the second half, only getting within a point early in the third, 30-29, on a jumper from Porter. The sophomore finished the second half with 13 points en route to that 20-point career game, while Forde was held to only three points after her team-leading eight points in the first half. Post would remain tight in the affair throughout the third and fourth quarters, until Formby hit one of two free throws in the fourth, which made it a double-digit game, 52-42, with 5:34 left in regulation.

Formby, who closed with 13 points and six rebounds would foul out with 4:31 left, while Post got back within five points with 50 seconds left behind a quick 6-0 run by a trio of players, 59-54, before Felician closed the door on the comeback attempt, making all six of their free throws down the stretch of the 65-56 victory. On the Golden Falcons' side, it was Valle leading the way with 24 points, playing all 40 minutes to earn herself a double-double behind her 7-for-13 shooting effort, including 10-for-16 from the free throw line, and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Szilvassy also tallied a double-double for Felician with 11 points in 40 minutes of action, including five points from the free throw, as she led the way with 18 rebounds as part of a 56-rebound day for the Golden Falcons, who held the Eagles to only 34 rebounds. Post would win the turnover battle by a 23-12 margin, outscoring Felician, 20-9, in points off turnovers, while graduate forward Megan Landsiedel had a team-high eight steals. Landsiedel's eight steals were just one steal behind the program record of nine steals set by Tadj Williams and Marjorie Prado, both during separate games during the 2006 season.
