THE BASICS
Post University 3, Caldwell University 0
Post University (7-0, 1-0 CACC)
Caldwell University (0-8, 0-1 CACC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Post attacked at a season-high .439 percentage, their best since October 22nd of last year against the Cougars on the road when the Eagles swept them in three sets with a .467 attack percentage. In set one alone, 12 kills on 18 attempts with no errors led the way for Post to have a .667 attack percentage and lead by as many as 18 points, 24-6, before a 3-0 run from Caldwell ahead of the set point cut the margin of victory down to 16 points, 25-9. The Cougar offense struggled all night, attacking at a .082 clip with a first set that featured five errors and a game-low .036 attack percentage.
Rolling through the second set to a nine-point win, 25-16, the first real taste of adversity for the Eagles came in set three when freshman right-side hitter Meredith Gatz started a 2-0 run for the Cougars to give them their first lead of the evening in a set, 2-1. That would be the first of three times in which Caldwell took a one-point advantage, with the last time coming by the way of a 6-5 score before an 8-0 run by Post led to a dominant 25-15 finish to the set and match. When all was set and done, Post finished the match committing just seven errors, with the most coming in the second set with five, while Caldwell fluctuated throughout, ending with 15 errors on the evening.
Graduate setter
Alice DiFrancesco accounted for 28 of the 34 assists the Eagles had in the game as Peric led the way with 10 kills on 24 attempts and only four errors for a .250 attack percentage. Ortiz was equally as impressive with her seven kills, which came on 13 tries with only one error, leading to a .462 attack percentage as she and Peric finished the night with the most attempts. Digs and blocks came at a premium as both teams had just two block assists each, and while the Eagles had 35 digs to only 21 for Caldwell, senior libero
Alyssa Groves led all players with only 13 digs.
Senior outside hitter Wyette Schubert-Brown recorded a team-best eight kills on 19 attempts for Caldwell, finishing with a .263 attack percentage, making up nearly half of the 21 total kills the Cougars had in the game. Three players for Post in Groves, junior outside hitter
Vivien Andrea Fehervari, and sophomore outside hitter
Rayssa Satlher all finished with three service aces towards the team's 13 total after the three-set win.
