Tiago Feler's Late Goal Earns Men's Soccer Tie with #6 Southern New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Graduate forward Tiago Feler left his mark on Wednesday night for Post University Men's Soccer, scoring the game-tying goal for the Eagles against Southern New Hampshire University, ranked sixth in the nation, on the road in the 88th minute to force a 1-1 tie against the Penmen as Post remains unbeaten through two games in the early part of the 2025 season.

THE BASICS

Post University 1, #6 Southern New Hampshire University 1

Post University (0-0-2)

#6 Southern New Hampshire University (2-0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward Philipp Herrmann scored the lone goal of the day for Southern New Hampshire in the first half with the help of graduate midfielder Dani Gonzalez, slipping the ball past the left side of junior goalkeeper Leopold Dufaut, who got his second start of the season in goal for the Eagles. Southern New Hampshire dominated on the offensive side of the pitch for much of the game, rifling off 10 first-half shots to just one for Post, leading to six saves for Dufaut, who finished with nine in the match.

Opposite of him was graduate goalkeeper Alvaro Garcia, who faced only four shots from the Eagles, three of which he would turn away, and only one of which came in the first 45 minutes of play. But no shot was bigger than Feler's at the 87:18 mark of the match as senior midfielder Diego Righi sprinted up the sideline, hitting senior forward Mohammad Sanyang with a pass before he crossed it to Feler near the top center of the box.

Feler would do the rest, going high past Garcia to tie the match at one all, where it would inevitably end. When all was set and done, Post was outshot 14-5 overall and 10-4 in shots on goal, in a match where Southern New Hampshire took eight corner kicks to their one. Outside of last year's 7-0 loss, the Eagles suffered against the Penmen last season at home; the two teams have played to three ties in the last five matchups overall.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Tiago Feler's second-half goal was his first with Post University after transferring from Division III North Carolina Wesleyan University this past summer
  • Leopold Dufaut has allowed just two goals in two games for Post University in net while making 12 saves in the process -- Dufaut went 1-2-1 last season in four matches played for Post
  • Four yellow cards were issued between the two teams, with each team being assessed one in each half
  • In the last five matches between the two programs, Post University holds a 1-1-3 record against Southern New Hampshire University, defeating the Penmen at home, 1-0, back in 2022

WHO'S NEXT
Continuing their four-game road trip, Post University faces Gannon University in a neutral-site matchup in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, this Saturday at 12:00 PM. The Golden Knights enter the match receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll as they face the Eagles for the second time in program history. The first time these two teams faced off was last season in a neutral-site match in which Gannon came out on top 4-0.
