WATERBURY, Conn. -- Leah Lockwood and Michael Bronson have been named Athletic Communications Graduate Assistants for the 2025-26 athletic year at Post University, as announced by the Athletic Communications office on Wednesday morning ahead of Saturday's home opener for Post University Football against West Virginia Wesleyan College at home at Municipal Stadium.
Director of Athletic Communications,
Michael Vesci, and Assistant Director of Athletic Communications,
Kristen Brown, both return for their third year at Post, joining before the 2023-24 school year got underway. Sports Information Assistant
Jarrett Michaels returns for his second year with the program after being hired by the team last summer in his current role.
A 2024 graduate of St. Bonaventure University in New York, Leah Lockwood joins the team while pursuing her Master of Business Administration.
Coming from Upstate New York, Lockwood brings a diverse background in sports on the social media and production side of the coin. Starting small in 2021, she was the Social Media Manager from the @HeatUpdates social media channel, which boasted over 100,000 followers at the time and provided updates to fans of the National Basketball Association's Miami Heat on a regular basis. This led her to eventually start her own content page on TikTok in 2022 called the @HVTWPodcast (Heat vs. the World), leading a group of content creators to build the channel to over 650,000 views over the course of that summer.
Continuing her work in social media in addition to her TikTok page, Lockwood interned for the Newark Pilots of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and, similarly to her other social media ventures, was tasked with growing the Instagram and Twitter (X) platforms via game-day, in-game, and off-the-field content creation.
While at St. Bonaventure, Lockwood worked for a year as a Graphics Operator for the school's ESPN+ streams at athletic home events, editing graphics in real time and creating statistic-related graphics as the games went on for the school's Men's/Women's Soccer, Men's/Women's Lacrosse, Men's/Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Softball broadcasts. She also served as the SBU-TV Sports, Bonnies Basketball Now On-Air Host and Social Media Manager in their first year of production, helping to co-found their social media platforms while providing analysis on the school's athletic programs.
Most recently, before coming to Vesci's team, Lockwood spent a year at WeTheHobby as an On-Air Personality, a company that specializes in sports cards and live pack openings, which she did regularly in eight-hour shifts with over 10 different co-hosts and a live chat.
Speaking on Lockwood, Vesci said, "Leah was somebody who showed a lot of ambition for the sports world, first connecting with me back in January on LinkedIn to learn about breaking into sport. As we got closer to the time we were looking to fill the roles, Leah expressed interest and with her versatile background in social media, technical skills, and production, we felt this opportunity was perfect for her to have a shot to continue growing her skills, pursue a degree, and help her find her niche in sports."
As for Bronson, he comes to Post University after graduating from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. Before transferring to Southern, Bronson attended Roger Williams University for a year, working on the Athletics Event Management staff as well as a volunteer planner for campus sport events.
During his time at Southern, he would spend some time working with the Adaptive Recreational Sports Program and a year later had a pair of internship experiences with both the Connecticut State Golf Association (CSGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) during 2024.
With the CGSA, Bronson was tasked with assisting in event planning, daily administrative duties, tournament coordination, and recordkeeping during events. Attending a three-day summit sponsored by the USGA, Bronson learned about a variety of departments within the organization, attending numerous lectures related to operations and communication facets.
"Michael was a late find to join us for the 2025-26 athletic year after some last-minute changes occurred. Like Leah, in speaking to him just for even only a few minutes, we could see he had a passion for breaking into sport and was hungry for any opportunity he could get his hands on. Michael offers a unique background in sport, having worked in the golf world, but one that will provide us with a new perspective and also allow him to expand his background further in sport, which will help him be successful down the line," said Vesci.
