Men's Basketball Recruit Harry Scully Dazzles at FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2025 Division B Tournament

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Point guard Harry Scully is just weeks away from making his way to the campus of Post University to begin his collegiate career as an Eagle with Head Coach Marc Kuntz and the Post University Men's Basketball program in August. However, before starting his collegiate career, the six-foot, three-inch freshman participated in his second FIBA EuroBasket Tournament and third international event with the organization since 2022 as part of Team Ireland in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Division B Tournament held in Yerevan, Armenia from July 11th to July 20th.

One year ago, Scully played for Team Ireland in the U18 EuroBasket Division B Tournament in Skopje, Macedonia as the team did not make it past the group stages, but played consolation games for a total of eight games across 10 days. Scully averaged 9.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, reaching double-digit scoring in four of those eight games his team played, while ironically playing with Stanley Njekwe on the squad, who is also expected to be his teammate as he is slated to join Post this fall out of Gill St. Bernard's School in New Jersey.

As for Scully, he spent the last season at St. Thomas More School just down the road in Oakdale, Connecticut, ahead of joining the Eagles as part of the National Team for the 2024-25 season. Scully helped lead that team to a 27-12 record, which culminated in making it to the National Prep Championship Game against Putnam Science Academy before falling 79-72 back in March.

This year in Armenia, Scully turned in a pair of solid performances to start Group Play against Estonia and Armenia, reaching double-digits to help Ireland start 2-0 en route to a 3-1 record and a trip to the Quarterfinals on July 18th to take on Croatia. While Ireland suffered a 90-69 loss at the hands of Croatia in a game where Scully had eight points, two of the three losses of the entire event for Ireland came against the two finalists in Croatia and Latvia, who faced off yesterday in the Championship Game in which Latvia held off a 16-point comeback by Croatia that sent the game to the fourth tied at 49 before Latvia pulled away for the 10-point win, 74-64.

All in all, Ireland closed with a 5-3 record, falling to the Netherlands as their only other loss, 68-64, after being eliminated by Croatia in what was Scully's best game of the event with 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting with five rebounds. Scully closed out the eight-game slate having played in just over 26 minutes per game while averaging 8.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. His average for assists tied him for 13th-most among players in the tournament while his points ranked 74th and rebounds were 94th.

Scully will join an Eagles team that kicks off their 2025-26 season in a little under four months now when they head to Bridgeport for the Tip-Off Tournament against Southern Connecticut State University on Friday, November 14th.
