WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second consecutive year and third time in program history, Post University Men's Basketball earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award while seeing a program-record six players named to the NABC Honors Court as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Finishing with its highest GPA when earning the team award, the Eagles closed the 2024-25 year with a 3.27 GPA, surpassing their 2014-15 season in which they had a 3.21 GPA en route to the honor from the NABC. In both prior years that Post has had student-athletes on the NABC Honors Court, the netted four each with this year, juniors
Caleb Sampson, Matthias Leicher, and
Tre Duncan, along with graduate students
Derrick Thomas II,
Harrison Warnock, and
Tyler Small, rounded out the historic six-person list of honorees for the Eagles.
The NABC Honors Court list encompasses junior, senior, and graduate students who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher on the men's basketball team.
Across all levels, over 2,400 players were named to the NABC Honors Court, while nearly 400 teams were awarded the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
