Robbie McGrayne Becomes All-Time Points Leader, Pat Yannarelli is Most Winning Coach in Men's Lacrosse Conference Win Against Caldwell

WATERBURY, Conn –  Senior attacker Robbie McGrayne made program history yet again on Tuesday afternoon for Post University Men's Lacrosse as he became the program's all-time leader in points with 203 after scoring five goals and adding one assist for six points in the 14-4 conference win over Caldwell University at LaMoy Field. McGrayne surpassed Dylan Heald, who had 202 career points, in his four-year career as an Eagle in the victory, while Head Coach Pat Yannarelli became the most winningest coach in the program's history with 15 wins, passing John Jez for the mark.

THE BASICS

Post University 14, Caldwell University 4

Post University (5-3, 2-0 CACC)

Caldwell University (0-6, 0-2 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was the McGrayne and junior attacker Leighton Cooke show in the win for Post as the duo combined for 10 goals, three assists, and 13 points overall. The two each had five goals each, while Cooke added two assists and McGrayne tacked on one, as the latter in Cooke had his seventh consecutive game with a hat trick and his seven-point day marked the third straight game and fourth overall this season in which he has reached that mark.

Junior attacker Ryan Denike also had a solid all-around game offensively for Post with one goal and four assists for a total of five points while freshman goalie Aiden Waller continued the hot start to his career in net in only 45 minutes of action, making 10 saves and allowing only two goals. Waller is now 3-0 on the season and has not allowed double-digit goals yet in any of his first four appearances as an Eagle.

The Post defense would be on full display today as graduate defender Thomas Pouliot and senior long-stick midfielder James Sproul each had seven ground balls with Sproul leading the way with four caused turnovers and Pouliot having three caused turnovers. Freshman defender John Karas also accounted for three caused turnovers to go along with his three ground balls as the Eagles forced 31 turnovers by the Cougars while only committing 20 of their own.

Freshman midfielder Connor Pinkham scored three of the four goals for the Cougars, breaking a 45:03 scoreless drought that spanned from the 6:23 mark of the first quarter to the 6:20 mark of the fourth quarter and featured 12 unanswered goals by the Eagles in the stretch. Junior midfielder Zakkery Glatfelter scored the only other goal while junior attacker Gavin Starr had two assists for Caldwell.
