HOW IT HAPPENED
With only five players available as junior Ana Vasilis was ruled out for the match today. Post would be forced to default the #3 Doubles and #6 Singles, giving Wilmington the advantage of needing to win only one Doubles to secure the point, as well as handing them one Singles, which gave them a 1-0 lead right off the bat.

Senior Gioia Turco and freshman Savannah Croft would end up getting swept in the #2 Doubles, 6-0, against sophomores Ines Oliveira and Siana MacDonald, giving the Wildcats the Doubles, which they ended up sweeping with a 6-4 win in the #1 Doubles. That match saw sophomores Julie Merlin and Laura Kotala fall to sophomore Liza Sylka and freshman Elena Camacho.

Senior Gloria Bacaro secured technically the second Singles point of the day for Wilmington, beating Turco in the #5 Singles, 6-2 and 6-1, which was closely followed by Camacho's 6-2 and 6-0 win against Croft in the #4 Singles to put the Wildcats on the brink of the team victory. That would come moments late with Kotala falling in the #3 Singles to sophomore Ming-Fu Chen in straight 6-1 sets.

Rounding out the final two matches of the day, sophomore Molly Carlberg was victorious in the #2 Singles against freshman Vitalina Sokoliuk, 6-3 and 6-1, while MacDonald took down Merlin, 6-1 and 6-3, in the #1 Singles, finishing the 7-0 win for the Wildcats.
