HOW IT HAPPENED
Still without junior
Ana Vasilis, Post would have to once again default the #3 Doubles and #6 Singles, giving the Lightning a 1-0 lead and only needing to win one Doubles to capture a second point right off the bat. They would do that with their #1 Doubles win as senior Lucia Corte and sophomore Camilla Franzin swept through sophomores
Julie Merlin and
Laura Kotala, 6-0, and then the #2 Doubles went in favor of senior Nahomi Quinonez and freshman Jenna Frank, 6-1, against freshman
Vitalina Sokoliuk and senior
Gioia Turco.
Sophomore Ihsane Achouri picked up the default win in the #6 Singles, which would be closely followed by Frank sweeping through Kotala in the #3 Singles in straight 6-0 sets. The second team victory of the season for the Lightning would come after Thaler was a 6-1 and 6-0 victor against senior
Gioia Turco in the #4 Singles, before Goldey-Beacom would capture two more Singles matches.
The first of those two would be Quinonez against Sokoliuk, 6-3 and 6-1, in the #2 Singles, as well as Franzin over Merlin in a three-set thriller in the #1 Singles. Merlin would stave off a sweep with a 6-4 win in set two following her 6-1 loss in set one, before dropping the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-4. Croft would go on to win the only match of the day for the Eagles in the #5 Singles, 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreak win and 6-3 against senior Elina Mukhamadeeva.
