HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles would be unable to capture any individual matches today, as the Rams did not allow Post players to reach four points in a single set of any of the nine matches played on Thursday. Sophomore Alyvica Veroux and freshman Anouk Oderkerk took the #1 Doubles over sophomores
Julie Merlin and
Laura Kotala, while both the #2 and #3 Doubles finished with identical 6-2 final scores. The #2 Doubles was played by junior
Ana Vasilis and freshman
Vitalina Sokoliuk against freshman Marely Alvarado and senior Rose Huang, while the #3 Doubles featured senior
Gioia Turco and freshman
Savannah Croft against freshman Sophia Babar and senior Emily Frost.
Once again seeing each other in the #1 Singles, Vasilis and Oderkerk squared off with Oderkerk coming out on top 6-0 and 6-3, while Merlin and Veroux did battle in the #2 Singles, which went in favor of the Rams, 6-1 and 6-0. Two other matches would finish with those identical set scores in the #4 Singles with Kotala and Huang, as well as the #6 Singles with Croft and Frost.
The two remaining outliers to this trend would be in the #3 Singles, where Sokoliuk fell to Alvarado, 6-2 and 6-3, and the #5 Singles, where Turco lost to Babar, 6-1 and 6-2, finishing the 7-0 sweep for Jefferson.
