HOW IT HAPPENED
Only four lead changes would come about in this affair, two of which came in the first half as graduate forward
Tyler Small got the Eagles off to a hot start with his three-ball just over a minute in. While trailing 5-2, junior guard Donavin Crawford scored the next five points as part of an 8-0 run by Georgian Court to put them ahead by what would end up being a game-high five points, 10-5.
Senior forward
Kyle Alcy and Deang punched back with back-to-back baskets to cut the deficit to one point, 10-9, which was the start of a 10-1 run that gave Post the lead back by four points, 15-11, with 4:22 remaining in the half. From there, the Eagles would maintain their slight lead into the halftime break, 21-18, as both teams finished the half struggling to shoot the ball efficiently from the field.
On the Post side, they were held to 10-of-31 shooting (32.2%) while making one 1-of-12 threes (8.3%) and having no free throws. For Georgian Court, they struggled equally as badly with only 5-of-24 shots made from the field (20.8%) and 2-of-13 threes going down (15.8%), but the Lions were able to stay in the game in part because of their free throw shooting in which they were 6-for-7 (85.7%).
A three by freshman guard Miles White cut the Post lead down to one point, 25-24, with 17:15 left in regulation, and eventually a 6-0 run capped off by a three from junior guard Cam Edmonds gave the Lions what would be their last lead of the game before senior guard
Bol Akot's jumper at the 15:01 mark flipped the game back in favor of the Eagles, 31-30.
From there, Post would go up by as many as 13 points, 56-43, with 5:01 left in the game en route to a 65-56 road victory over Georgian Court. In a much better second half, the Eagles were 14-for-31 (45.1%) from the field while hitting 3-of-10 (30%) of their threes and getting 18 free throw attempts in which they would convert on 13 of them for a 72.2% shooting day.
A barrage of second-half threes in which the Lions went 6-for-18 (33.3%) made up nearly half their field goals as they were 13-for-30 (43.3%) overall with only eight free throw attempts to their name while hitting six. White led Georgian Court with 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting and was followed up closely by Crawford at 15 points on 4-of-11 shooting. Beyond Deang, sophomore forward
