35 Unanswered Points for Greyhounds Sink Football on the Road

WORCESTER, Mass. – 35 unanswered points for the Assumption University offense in the final three quarters after Post University Football took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter would be all the Greyhounds needed to earn their first conference victory of the season, 35-7, on Friday night. Junior quarterback Malakai Taylor finished the game 14-for-26 with two interceptions and senior running back Isaiah Emmanuel had the lone touchdown of the game for the Eagles on a seven-yard run in the loss.

THE BASICS

Post University 7, Assumption University 35

Post University (1-3, 0-2 NE10)

Assumption University (2-1, 1-0 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore quarterback Jay Kastantin had a 20-for-26 evening for 212 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception for the Greyhounds, hitting three different receivers for scores while only being sacked once. On the ground, Kastantin had another touchdown in the closing minutes to get Assumption to 28 points while junior quarterback Chris Donohue's two-yard rushing touchdown with under two minutes to go capped off the Greyhounds scoring.

Playing without junior wide receiver Josh Tracey, freshman wide receiver DJ Lisbon played a big role in the early going of this affair on the lone scoring drive of the night for Post. Lisbon caught a big 45-yard pass from Taylor to get the Eagles into Assumption territory before drawing a pass interference against the Greyhounds which put the visitors inside the five-yard line for Emmanuel's touchdown run.

Looking for another big fourth-quarter comeback, the Eagle offense drove into the Greyhounds red zone after converting a fourth-and-two earlier in the drive. At the Assumption 11-yard line, freshman running back Adonis White pushed the offense to the three with two downs to go before Emmanuel was pushed back three yards and Taylor's pass to junior tight end Ethan Brown came up a few yards short of the goal line for a turnover on downs.

The Post offense would not have another deep drive the rest of the game while the Greyhounds punched it in twice more as the Eagles dropped their third straight game, 35-7, and fell to 0-2 in conference play this season.
