MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – It was just what the doctor ordered for Post University Women's Tennis on Sunday afternoon at home against Molloy University. After being swept in their last two matches and winless since last October, the losing skid came to an end at 13 consecutive games in masterful fashion as the Eagles swept through Molloy University, 7-0, at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club to notch their first win of the season.
THE BASICS

Post University (1-5)
Molloy University (0-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman
Annelein Van Urk and senior
Nina Langenfeld wasted no time taking care of business in the #3 Doubles against freshman Ashley Bonilla and sophomore Julia Salazar as they swept through the duo, 6-0, to start off the afternoon. Freshmen
Romy Leussink and
Melanie Leussink teamed up in the #2 Doubles for the first time this season and won, 6-4, over sophomores Alica Fartushynska and Isabella Fortaleza to secure the Doubles point for Post.
Sweeping through the Doubles were the Eagles when the #1 Doubles ended up tied at six all after senior
Megan Lombardt and freshman
Julie Merlin had a 4-1 lead early on that senior Elena Baughman Saunders and freshman Erin Sanchez worked their way back from. In the tiebreaker, Lombardt and Merlin would claim victory with a 9-7 win to give Post their first Doubles sweep and Doubles point of the season.
An injury to Baughman Saunders for the Lions and Van Urk's removal from the lineup for Post would shake up the ladder heading into the Singles matches as everyone moved up a spot. Merlin would end up being the first Eagle to win a match in the #2 Singles as Fortaleza suffered an injury trailing 5-2 in set one forcing her to retire from the match. A pair of 6-0 decisions secured Post's first win of the season as the #3 Singles was won by Langenfeld by two 6-0 scores over Fartushynka and junior
Gioia Turco also wen 6-0 in straight sets over freshman Taylor Gunnip to give the Eagles four team points.
Capping off the 7-0 win would be
Melanie Leussink in the #4 Singles over Bonilla, 6-1 and 6-2, followed close behind by
Romy Leussink over Salazar in the #6 Singles, 6-1 and 6-0. The final match of the day would be the #1 Singles which Lombardt came back from a 6-4 loss in set one to win set two 6-4 before winning the 10-point tiebreaker set, 10-6, ending her 15-game slide in Singles matches.
