WATERBURY, Conn. – Six different Penmen netted a goal for Southern New Hampshire University as 23
rd-ranked Post University Men's Soccer fell in their 2024 home opener, 7-0, at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon. It was the largest margin of defeat for the Eagles since 2004 when they lost 7-0 to the University of Bridgeport at LaMoy Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Penmen defense stood tall in the first half of the match against an aggressive Post offense, allowing just one shot total in the opening half with no shots allowed on goal. On the other end, Southern New Hampshire got the offense going early and often as graduate midfielder Dani Gonzalez and sophomore midfielder Martin Zapata each netted a goal in the first 15 minutes to give the Penmen what would be a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Zapata would start off the second half with his second goal of the game as part of a 45-minute session that included five goals for the visitors. Junior forward Phillip Herrmann, graduate forward Malvin Gblah, sophomore forward Charlie Preus, and senior forward Shane Siegel all tacked on goals of their own in the 7-0 win for Southern New Hampshire.

Leopold Dufaut allowed the first five goals of the afternoon and was lifted for graduate goalkeeper
Ricardo Moreno who allowed two goals in the last 12 minutes of the affair. Senior goalkeeper Preston Neal had three saves as part of his clean sheet afternoon for the Penmen.

- Unbeaten in 21 of the last 24 matches they played, this is the first loss for Post University against a team other than Franklin Pierce University since the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16 against the University of Charleston in 2022
WHO'S NEXT
Post University heads north to face a familiar foe in Rindge, New Hampshire as they visit number one in the nation and two-time defending NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Champion Franklin Pierce University on Sunday night at 6:00 PM. This will be the third matchup between the two teams since September of last season and sixth since 2021 with the previous five going the way of the Ravens.
Both matchups last year were victories for Franklin Pierce by 3-0 scores at LaMoy Field on September 11
th and then in the NCAA Round of 16 up at Sodexo Field last November. Since the start of the 2023 season, the Eagles have been unbeaten in 21 of their 24 matches with two of their losses coming against the Ravens and today's match against the Penmen.
