WATERBURY, Conn. -- In a first for both programs, Post University Athletics brings aboard Wallingford, Connecticut native Shelby Page as full-time Assistant Coach for the Women's Ice Hockey and Women's Lacrosse teams to join first-year Head Coach Pat Bingham and fourth-year Head Coach Debra (Delfino) Mosher. Page is the first full-time assistant coach for a women's program at the institution.
Speaking about taking on the role, Page said, "I am so excited to join the Post University team! I want to thank AJ McNamara and Karin Mann along with Pat Bingham and Debra Delfino for entrusting me with this new position. I cannot wait to bring my experience and knowledge I've gathered over the years."
Page comes to the Eagles with a plethora of experience in athletics dating back to her undergraduate years at the University of Southern Maine where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Athletic Coaching and Health Sciences. The Husky graduate spent her first two years as a member of the Women's Lacrosse team where she played defense in 22 games while starting seven of those and totaling three ground balls and a caused turnover in her career.
She attributes earning this position to the support around her saying, "I would not be as far as I am or as confident if it was not for Sarah Jamo and Karl Hendrickson from my alma mater, University of Southern Maine, for encouraging me to peruse the athletic coaching classes. Also, a big thank you to Ed Rodman, George Sweeney, Dan Forgie, and Chris Anderson from the Sharks Hockey organization, along with Emily Anderson and David Doyle from Hamden Hall Country Day. All these people have not only encouraged me to grow as a coach but have taught me so much."
In her years since being a part of the Women's Lacrosse program, Page spent time with the Connecticut Orthopedic Group as a Physical Aide Therapist assisting patients in a variety of their practices during her tenure. After graduating from Southern Maine in 2020, she had about a 1 1/2 year stint as a Human Resources Assistant for Advantage Maintenance Inc. during which she got into coaching as an Assistant Ice Hockey Coach for the Shoreline Sharks in which she started out with their Learn to Skate Clinics before moving to assisting the 14U Team for two years and at the present working with the 16U Team.
While working with the Sharks, Page took the role she comes to Post from as the Head Coach of the UConn Women's Ice Hockey Club Team for their 2023-24 season in which the team was able to win five games throughout their campaign. On the lacrosse side of things, she spent the last two years with the Varsity Women's Lacrosse team at Hamden Hall Country Day School as well as the last season with the Junior Varsity program as an Assistant Coach.
"All the athletes I have had the pleasure of crossing paths with is why coaching is such a passion and I cannot wait to bring that energy to the Women's Ice Hockey and Women's Lacrosse teams at Post."
When asked about the arrival of Page, Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Pat Bingham said, "We are excited to welcome Shelby to our team. Her coaching experience, strong communication skills, outgoing personality, and ability to work well with others will be a great asset to our coaching staff and players as we strive for success this season."
Asked about her thoughts on what Page brings to her program, Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Debra (Delfino) Mosher said, "We are thrilled to welcome our new assistant coach to the team! Her knowledge and experience will undoubtedly enhance our program and help us reach new heights. We're excited to see the positive impact she'll bring to our athletes and overall success.
