HOW IT HAPPENED
With senior right-hander Matt Semon looking to bounce back from his tough start against Goldey-Beacom College in the first game of the CACC Tournament, the Charger offense would knock home three runs on just two hits in the opening frame of his start. Semon would hit and walk the first two batters and with one out and the bases loaded, junior outfielder Cole Maucere would do the damage with a two-run double followed by a sacrifice fly in foul territory for freshman infielder Joseph Frazzetta to give New Haven a 3-0 lead after one.

Looking to mount a response in the second, the Eagles would load the bases with just one out for senior outfielder Danny Gill, who chipped away at the deficit with his RBI sacrifice fly to center. Senior outfielder Michael Pavelchak, who entered the day four hits away from the all-time hit record, would strike out against junior left-hander Liam Carroll to retire the side. In the bottom of the frame, Semon would walk the leadoff hitter in graduate infielder Noah Budzik, ending his start as he was lifted for graduate right-hander Joe Christiana.

Over the next two innings, two runs would come across the plate for the Chargers against Christiana with sophomore infielder Matt McIntire's RBI single in the second and Frazzetta's RBI single in the third, making it 5-1, before both sides would go cold offensively until the sixth when New Haven added two more on a two-run double by graduate infielder Tyler Wells, expanding their lead to six, 7-1.

Graduate outfielder DJ Caron would get two back for the Eagles in the seventh, keeping their hopes alive in the NCAA Regional, but sophomore right-hander Randy Ramnarace got out of the inning and made way for junior right-hander Matthew Minio in the eighth. A strikeout and wild pitch would net two for New Haven before Post scraped two across in the ninth inning on a fielding error and sacrifice fly by Caron with two outs to play with.

Still on the mound, Minio would be faced with junior infielder Hunter Keller being the tying run with the bases loaded and two outs. On a 1-2 count, Minio would get Keller to chase a pitch in the dirt, retiring him for the final out of the game as Post's season came to a close with the 9-5 loss.
