NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Playing for the first time since the CACC Tournament in the fall, Post University Women's Tennis headed to the shoreline for a spring tune-up against the University of New Haven on Thursday afternoon, a team they were supposed to play back in October but due to rain had to cancel multiple times. With a new look lineup, the Eagles were unable to keep pace with the Chargers, getting swept 7-0, for their seventh straight loss dating back to the fall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate students
Annunciata De-Souza and
Julia D'Occhio would provide the only victory of the day for Post, teaming up in the #3 Doubles for the first time this season and winning 6-4 over sophomores Alyssa Rodriguez and Madi Mabrito. Otherwise, the other two Doubles matches and all the Singles matches went in favor of the Chargers. In the #1 Doubles, sophomore

Oceane Mallevre were dispatched of, 6-1, by sophomore Valentinna Ferrarini and junior Karim Carreras while the #2 Doubles went to graduate student Lucia Placidi and junior Risako Umekuni, 6-2, over juniors
Megan Lombardt and
Nina Langenfeld.
In their sweep of the Singles, New Haven manufactured one 6-0 two-set sweep in the #2 Singles behind a pair of 6-0 wins over Carreras. Just behind her was Placidi against Gonzalez Ramos in the #5 Singles which went 6-2 and 6-0 in favor of the graduate from New Haven. After a close 7-5 win in set one for Umekuni over Lombardt in the #3 Singles, she would take set two with ease, 6-1, already securing the team win for the Chargers.
Freshman Agustina Ravera was victorious in the #6 Singles with two straight 6-2 wins over D'Occhio, while Langenfeld was taken care of by Rodriguez in the #4 Singles, 6-4 and 6-3. In the final match of the day, De-Souza fell to Ferrarini in the #1 Singles after losing set one, 7-5, and then 7-6 on an 7-1 tiebreaker point to round out the 7-0 sweep for New Haven.

- For the first time this season, Annuciata De-Souza and Julia D'Occhio teamed up in the Doubles, this is the second time in their Post careers in which they have been Doubles partners and are now 2-0

Post University will play one more spring match this Monday against Queens College on the road at 12:00 PM down in Flushing, New York. The Eagles are 0-4 all-time against the Knights, being swept in their previous two matchups with this one being the first since the 2019-20 season.
