HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Post University 0, Eckerd College 9 (5 Innings)
Senior right-hander Maddison Caldwell got her first start of the season and would allow two runs in the opening inning as a leadoff single from sophomore utility player Ella Coiner came around to score on an RBI single from freshman catcher Hannah Taylor who went on to score with junior infielder Addisan Langston's RBI single after Caldwell nearly escaped trouble in the frame.

Four more runs would come across in the second for the Tritons on a two-run single from Coiner and then Taylor's second RBI single in as many innings before Langston finished the scoring with an RBI groundout. Junior infielder Lauren Margolis singled home another run in the third inning to bring Eckerd within a run of the eight-run mercy rule after five innings which was ultimately reached after Coiner's two-run home run in the fifth to give the Tritons game one by a 9-0 score.

Coiner finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, four RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Senior right-hander Avery Beauchaine completed the no-hitter after going five innings while allowing no runs on no hits, striking out nine batters, walking three, and throwing one wild pitch. The senior faced 18 total batters and three 81 total pitches.

Maddison Caldwell took the game one loss after going 4 2/3 innings, allowing nine runs (five earned) on 11 hits while striking out and walking a batter as well as throwing a wild pitch.

Game 2: Post University 0, Eckerd College 8 (5 Innings)
Freshman right-hander Reese Founds and sophomore right-hander Brandilyn Reymer would combine for five innings in game two to no-hit Post again as the duo gave up no runs on no hits, had eight total strikeouts, one walk, one hit batter and one wild pitch. In all, both pitchers threw just 79 pitches in the win for the Tritons and faced 17 batters.

Freshman left-hander Devin Barnett started game two for Post and went 3 1/3 innings while allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits with a walk and two wild pitches. After two scoreless innings, back-to-back home runs for Margolis and Taylor got Eckerd ahead by three in the third and they would extend their edge to six runs after Coiner's sacrifice fly, an RBI double from Margolis, and Taylor reaching first on an error.

Junior right-hander Alyssa Hughes made her first appearance on the mound this season for the Eagles to close out the last 1 1/3 innings that would ultimately be played. Hughes would allow two runs in the fifth on an RBI single to Coiner and a sacrifice fly in foul territory by Margolis that once again implemented the eight-run mercy rule after five innings to give the Tritons the sweep with an 8-0 win.
