NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bookend six-goal quarters for Southern Connecticut State University helped them take control of a rescheduled matchup with Post University Women's Lacrosse on Friday morning, taking a commanding 18-5 win over the Eagles who fell back to .500 at 4-4 on the season with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Owls would score the first seven goals of the affair through the first 16 minutes and change before graduate attacker Gabrielle Fiora netted the first of the day for the Eagles. Freshman midfielder Roksana Debicka would put Post on a brief 2-0 run and the deficit would fall briefly to five goals after graduate midfielder Cara DiStefano's score with 6:06 left in the half, 8-3.

Heading into the half, Southern Connecticut would hold a seven-goal lead after scoring twice in the final 3 ½ minutes to take a 10-3 edge. Senior defender Lotanna Nwabadu scored a pair of goals, a new single-game career-high, but those would be matched by two from the Owls as well who maintained their seven-goal lead into the fourth en route to an 18-5 win after another 7-0 run from the end of the third through the end of the game.

DiStefano finished with a team-high five draw controls as Post finished with 10 draw controls overall while Southern Connecticut finished with 17. Nine different players recorded a goal for the Owls, including two hat tricks from freshman attacker Anna Meserve and senior attacker Kirsten McIntire and 11 total would record at least one point.

Nwabadu had the team lead with two goals while DiStefano, Debicka, and Fiora all had one goal apiece. In net, senior goalie Lauren Bain made seven saves while allowing 10 goals in the first half. In the second half, sophomore goalie Niky Johnson relieved Bain in the second half, allowing eight goals and making five saves in her 30 minutes of playing time.
