WATERBURY, Conn. – A tale of two games for Post University Baseball saw the Eagles' offense come to life in game one, leading to an 11-1 victory over Felician University, but game two was a different story as the Golden Falcons got out to a seven-run lead to force a doubleheader split with a 9-3 win over the Eagles.
In the season series, Post finishes 2-1 in the regular season against Felician, holding the critical tiebreaker in the North Division as well as beginning their conference schedule above .500 to start the spring.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Post University 11, Felician University 1 (7 Innings)
Graduate right-hander
Joe Christiana was stellar in his seven-inning complete game in which he allowed just one run on six hits while striking out seven and walking two on 97 pitches. That lone run he would give up came in the top of the first to senior infielder Dauri Genao which was immediately met by junior infielder
Hunter Keller's game-tying sacrifice bunt in the second.
That was the start of 11 unanswered runs for the Eagles who finished off the Golden Falcons in seven innings after a 3-for-4 performance from junior catcher
Jimmy Brennan in which he fell a triple short of the cycle while driving in two runs and scoring four times. Five errors from the Felician defense resulted in five unearned runs for Post in the victory which was capped off by eight runs between the sixth and seventh innings.
A leadoff home run by Brennan in the sixth and an RBI double from senior shortstop
Evan Cornwell bookended a three-run inning for the Eagles around a fielder's choice from senior outfielder
Michael Pavelchak. Brennan's RBI double in the seventh followed by a bases-clearing double from senior outfielder
Danny Gill and a game-winning RBI single from Pavelchak topped off the offensive explosion for Post who took game one, 11-1, for their second conference victory of the season.
Game 2: Post University 3, Felician University 9
Freshman right-hander
Jack Martineau made his fourth start of the season for the Eagles, lasing exactly four innings before being pulled for junior right-hander
Justin Portes. Martineau finished his outing giving up five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks as the Golden Falcon offense showcased its power against him during the start.
Freshman outfielder Andrew DeAngelis singled home sophomore utilityman Thomas Kendrick who led the game off with a triple to put Felician ahead in the first inning, just like in game one, 1-0. Three more runs came across in the third off Martineau via a pair of doubles from sophomore infielder Haiden Walters and sophomore catcher Jose David Medrano around a sacrifice fly by graduate first baseman Ricky Voss.
Voss would go on to double in two more runs in the fifth off Portes while junior infielder Cole Porter's fielder's choice plated one more to make it a 7-0 ballgame. But the Eagles would not go down quietly in this one, striking for three of their own in the bottom half of the frame and knocking out junior right-hander Daniel Kiritsis from the game after 4 1/3 innings.
With the bases loaded, Pavelchak would single home a run but a baserunning blunder caused the first out of the inning in Gill. With junior right-hander Logan Waltz coming in relief, Cornwell's infield single would result in a throwing error by Walters that led to two more runs for Post with still only one out before Waltz retired the next two batters to keep the score at 7-3.
While Waltz set down six of the last seven batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings, Walters and Kendrick would tack on two insurance runs for the Golden Falcons with an RBI single and sacrifice fly respectively to secure the 9-3 win and a doubleheader split in game two.
