WATERBURY, Conn. -- With the season coming to an end for Post University Men's Basketball in the NCAA Division II East Region Semifinals this past Sunday at the hands of eventual East Region Champion Southern New Hampshire University, the Eagles continued to be honored for their record-breaking season as junior point guard
Bol Akot was named to the NCAA East Region All-Tournament Team late Tuesday night.
Akot joins Matt Becht and Derrick Grant from the Penmen as well as Romar Reid and Nolan Marold on the five-man team after his efforts over the weekend. In the two games that the Eagles played, the junior saw 67 out of a possible 80 minutes of playing time while going 9-for-22 from the field and making 11-of-15 free throws.Â
In all, Akot scored 29 points, averaging 14.5 points per game in the tournament as well as hauled in seven rebounds (3.5 rebounds per game), six assists (3.0 assists per game), and three steals (1.5 steals per game). The New Hampshire native finished the season averaging 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for the Eagles which landed him on the CACC All-Conference Second Team.
The Eagles closed out a historic season with a 69-64 loss to Southern New Hampshire which saw them finish with the most wins since going to the Division II level in program history at 21 as well as qualifying for their first NCAA Tournament and winning their first NCAA Tournament game, 70-62, over St. Thomas Aquinas College who entered ranked 15th in the NABC National Poll as well as 10th in the D2CSC National Poll.Â
