ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The margin for error has slowly gotten smaller for Post University Men's Basketball over the last couple of weeks. Having dropped three of their last five conference matches entering the night against Dominican (N.Y.) who was one game back in the North Division standings, the Eagles were only two games up in the loss column ahead of fifth-place Caldwell University which would put them on the outside of the top four in the division who qualify for the CACC Tournament.
The Eagles were unable to increase their cushion and fell behind the Chargers in the standings after dropping the matchup, 91-83, moving to 5-4 in the conference while having played one less game than Caldwell, two less games than Dominican (N.Y.) and Felician University overall in CACC play. Post still has to face the Cougars and Golden Falcons in the final weeks of the regular season, but now risk falling into a fifth-place tie with Caldwell should they drop another conference game.
THE BASICS

Dominican (N.Y.) (15-7, 7-4 CACC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the seventh time in their last nine games, the Eagles would head into the halftime break trailing, this time by three points, 42-39. Much like last game, it came off the back of a strong shooting effort from both sides which saw Dominican (N.Y.) go 17-of-35 (48.6%) from the floor and Post lurking close behind them at 16-of-34 (47.1%) with an advantage from three-point land where they made five threes compared to three for the Chargers.
Freshman point guard
Ta'Quan Williams, who has not eclipsed 10 points in a game in his last five games, did so in just one half after scoring 11 points on 6-of-6 shooting with a three. Junior forward
Deng Deang, who had 22 points in the first half of Post's game at Chestnut Hill College, was held to only three points on 1-of-7 shooting and was one of seven Post players held to three points or less in the first half.
A balanced attack for Dominican (N.Y.) saw them have nine different players score a basket while junior forward Darryl Brown Jr. and junior guard Jaden Honis were neck and neck with nine and eight points respectively to lead the team. From the jump, the Chargers would only trail three times in the first 20 minutes and by no more than two points while leading by as many as seven points with 2:10 to go before a 6-0 run by Post cut their lead to one. In response, junior forward Seth Sharif-Brown and sophomore Javel Cherry combined for a 4-0 run followed by a Williams' layup for Post to keep the lead a three for the Chargers at the half.
Only twice in the second half would the Eagles be able to take the lead back from the Chargers as they opened up on a 4-0 run from graduate forward
Harrison Warnock to jump ahead 43-42 and then later on a three from junior point guard
Robert Sanders made it a 48-47 game with 15:32 remaining in regulation.
Moments later when sophomore guard Isaiah Honis hit a three for the Chargers, they would never relinquish the lead again and extended their lead to as many as 11 points while simultaneously never letting Post get closer than five points on a couple of occasions. One of those would be when senior forward
Derrick Thomas II hit a three with 2:01 left, making it 82-77 in favor of Dominican (N.Y.). Six straight free throws for the Chargers would seal the game for the home team as they avenged their early season loss to the Eagles with a 91-83 victory in front of their home crowd.
