MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After being swept last night against regionally-ranked Queens College, Post University Baseball looked to end their Myrtle Beach trip on a high note against the University of New Haven on Sunday afternoon before making the long bus trip back up to Waterbury, Connecticut where they will have five days off before their next game. Entering the day, the Eagles had lost six consecutive games to the Chargers in the all-time series but used strong starting pitching from freshman pitcher
Jack Martineau coupled with four runs in the early innings and four runs in the latter innings to pull away from New Haven for a 9-4 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Four runs in two innings for the Eagles helped them take control of the ball game early on as RBI singles by junior infielder
Hunter Keller and senior outfielder
Michael Pavelchak helped drive in three runs during the second inning against freshman starting pitcher Vincent Fusco. Junior third baseman
Justin Rivera would tack on the fourth run in the third inning with his RBI double after senior outfielder
DJ Caron came around to score after reaching on a leadoff error.
On the mound, Martineau would have a bounce-back start, going four innings while allowing one run on four hits while striking out three and walking no batters. Martineau's lone run came in the fourth inning on a solo home run by sophomore outfielder Shaun Callahan and was the first of two runs for the Chargers who tacked on another in the fifth against graduate right-hander
Nathaniel Byrd, who got his first win of the season, on an RBI ground out for graduate infielder Noah Budzik which cut Post's lead in half to 4-2.
After junior catcher
Jimmy Brennan pushed across a run on an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-2, junior outfielder Cole Maucere's two-run home run off of Byrd in the bottom of the frame cut the Eagle lead down to one with still two innings to play. Giving themselves some breathing room, three RBI singles from Pavelchak, freshman infielder
Dario Sosa, and senior outfielder
Danny Gill gave Post the cushion they needed with a four-run ninth inning to leave South Carolina with a 9-4 victory.
