COLCHESTER, Vt. -- Three players for Post University Women's Basketball finished in double figures on Saturday evening at the Saint Michael's Tip-Off Tournament against Saint Michael's College, but a two-point first quarter would set the tone for the game as the Purple Knights ran away with the game, sinking the young Eagles to 0-2 with a 76-49 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Falling behind by 11 points, 13-2, after the first quarter, the Eagles as a team went 0-for-12 from the floor and got both of their points via free throws. Those points would come from sophomore forward
Alyssa Rossignol with only 35 seconds remaining in the frame, who had 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting in 26 minutes while having a team-high five rebounds and registering three steals.
While Post cut their deficit down to six following back-to-back baskets from senior guard

Jasmine Day-Cox before it quickly became a double-digit lead again for the Purple Knights with back-to-back baskets of their own. The closest the Eagles would get was within five points with 6:17 in the half with the help of freshman guard
Jackie Russell's layup and junior forward
Nicole Parks' free throw. By halftime, Saint Michael's broke open the lead to 13 points, 33-20, after Russell's three with the session winding down.
Outscoring the Eagles by 12 points in the third, 25-13, the Purple Knights would pull away for the eventual 27-point victory, 76-49, led by sophomore forward Jayla Tyler's 15-point, 11-rebound double-double. Sophomore guard Amber Furch and senior guard Brianna Furch led the way with 20 points and 17 points respectively while both shooting 5-of-13 from the floor.
Having her first double-digit scoring game in her collegiate career was Russell with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting with three made shots from three-point range while sophomore guard
Hannah Finnerty reached double digits with 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting with two three-pointers and two free throws made.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Jayla Tyler finished with a double-double for Saint Michael's, scoring 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 5-of-8 shooting from the free-throw line while tallying 11 rebounds
- In their first two games of the season, Post University committed 20-plus turnovers in each affair while doing so in eight games throughout the entire 2023-24 season
- After shooting just 14.3% from three yesterday, Post University bounced back with a 7-for-18 day from long range, leading to a 38.9% shooting mark
- Post University falls to 1-4 all-time against Saint Michael's after losing the first three all-time matchups before winning last season on the road, 73-61, against them

Post University will face a tough road test on Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM against Assumption University who is ranked 20th in the WBCA National Poll and 14th in the D2CSC National Poll as of this weekend. The Eagles opened their 2023-24 season against the Greyhounds, dropping the matchup by a 80-59 score in the Drubner Center.
