HOW IT HAPPENED
This would be a game that the Eagles led nearly wire-to-wire after sophomore guard
Ta'Quan Williams hit a three-pointer after a scoreless first 1:29 of the first half to make it a 3-0 game. That initial 1:29 of play would be one of only two times the game would be tied as graduate forward
Harrison Warnock threw down a dunk that started Post off on a 5-0 run before junior guard Jade Tse's three cut the lead down to two.
Senior guard Shamar Chester tied the score up once more with 11:27 left in the first half to tie things up at 13 all, but a massive 13-0 run would follow for the Eagles, giving them their first double-digit lead of the contest which they would never see dip below eight points. Warnock and Small started the run with the first nine combined points followed by two points each from senior forward
Deng Deang and senior guard
Bol Akot, making it a 26-13 game.
An 8-0 run by senior guard Damiri Lindo all by himself towards the tail end of the first half threatened to give the Knights some momentum trailing by just eight, 31-23, but another double-digit run to the tune of 10-0 quickly allowed Post to regain control and take a 20-point lead, 47-27, into the half. The Eagles shot 20-for-34 (58.8%) overall and 6-for-12 (50%) from three while making one of their two free throws while Queens shot 8-for-26 (30.7%) overall and 5-for-12 (41.6%) from three with 6-of-7 free throws made.
A Williams layup with 3:47 left in the second half gave Post their largest lead of the affair at 27 points, 80-53, a mark they would hit again inside of two minutes on a layup from sophomore forward Matthais Leichner as the Eagles rolled back into the win column, 84-63, to move to 5-2 overall on the season and a perfect 4-0 in road or neutral site games this season. Williams, Deang, and Warnock all finished with 15 points and combined to shoot 18-for-32 from the field while knocking down five threes while Small led all scorers with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
