Football Tripped Up on the Road Against New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior wide receiver Josh Tracey found the end zone for the 10th time this season in eight games he has played in, but Post University Football would be unable to hang with Northeast-10 leading University of New Haven in their conference matchup on Saturday afternoon on the road, falling 51-7 to the Chargers and dropping to 1-8 on the year.

THE BASICS

Post University 7, University of New Haven 51

Post University (1-8, 0-7 NE10)

University of New Haven (6-2, 5-1 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate quarterback Daelen Menard paced the New Haven offense with an 11-for-22 day in the air throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns as well as an interception which was taken by junior cornerback Antwan Walden. However, it was the ground game that really got the Chargers going to the tune of 346 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Leading that charge was graduate running back Justin Felder who had 160 yards on eight carries for two touchdowns, averaging 20 yards per carry for the Chargers. Senior running back Christopher Ais was second on the team in rushing yards with 83 on 13 carries followed by junior running back Zaon Laney at 72 rushing yards on 15 carries.

As for Post, they would tie the game up at seven all as junior quarterback Malakai Taylor hooked up with Tracey on a 50-yard strike in the first quarter before the Chargers went on to score 44 unanswered points en route to the win. Taylor after that play would end up going 8-for-27 passing with 113 yards, that lone touchdown, and an interception in the loss while senior running back Isaiah Emmanuel led the team in rushing yards with 74 on 18 carries and Tracey would finish the day with five receptions for 76 yards.

Defensively, the Eagles were led by sophomore linebacker Michael Gabettie who had 16 total tackles which featured nine solos and seven assisted. Following close behind him was freshman defensive back Branden McLaughlin at 13 total tackles with five solos and eight assisted in only his second career game as an Eagle.

Sophomore kicker/punter Aden Caine had 10 punts for Post totaling up 309 yards with a long of 43 yards on the day.
