MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Facing up against a dominant St. Thomas Aquinas College team to close out their 2024-25 home schedule, Post University Women's Tennis faced an uphill battle on Sunday afternoon at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club in their matchup with the Spartans. Taking just over two hours to complete, the Eagles would be overpowered by St. Thomas Aquinas, suffering their ninth sweep of the season in a 7-0 loss.

Eight matches would end in 6-0 sweeps for the Spartans including all three Doubles matches which wrapped up in just about 20 minutes on the courts. Senior

Julie Merlin fell against graduate students Elita Silins and Courteny Fyvie in the #1 Doubles, freshmen
Melanie Leussink and
Annelein Van Urk dropped the #2 Doubles against freshman Anaya Brons and sophomore Kateryna Kryuchkova, and the #3 Doubles went to graduate student Elise Semmartin and freshman Mar Canevers Bufi over junior

In the Singles, the #4 through #6 Singles also ended in two-set, 6-0 sweeps with Kryuchkova beating
Melanie Leussink in the #4 Singles, Caneves Bufi defeating
Romy Leussink in the #5 Singles, and Sun Zhuoxaun's victory against Turco in the #6 Singles.
At the top of the ladder, Lombardt put up a first-set fight against Brons, falling 6-2 in the #1 Singles before being swept 6-0 in set two while Merlin and Fyvie went head-to-head in the #2 Singles which finished 6-3 and 6-1 in favor of the Spartans. Freshman Ombeline Robilliart took the court in the #3 Singles for St. Thomas Aquinas, nearly having the ninth sweep of the day with a 6-0 and 6-1 win over Van Urk which capped off the 7-0 day for the visitors.
BY THE NUMBERS
- In non-conference matchups this fall, Post University finishes 1-5 overall with the one win coming over Molloy University on September 22nd
- This is the ninth time this year in which Post University has been swept in a match -- It is the most for a single season since the 2013-14 season in which they were swept 11 times in 11 matches

Post University finishes out its 2024 fall schedule with a conference matchup against Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM down in Wilmington, Delaware. At the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club earlier this year, the Eagles were swept 7-0 against the Lightning and dropped all nine matches that took place.
