THE BASICS

Post University 93, Caldwell University 80

Post University (9-6, 4-1 CACC)

Caldwell University (4-10, 1-4 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Maya Klein was the first Eagle to break the standstill just 21 ticks after tip-off thanks to a pair from the charity stripe but the visitors were able to tie it up at two before the home team extended their edge to six with a rally topped off by Tijanae Simmons (8-2). Caldwell creeped their way back to a one-basket deficit with 3:37 to go in the first (10-12) but the Eagles cracked down offensively to regain the seven-point advantage before a Tiana Pagan jumper sent the Eagles into the second frame, 21-12.

After over a minute of scoreless action, Dede Stevenson sunk one from behind the arc to make it 24-12. The Eagles held their double-digit lead until 6:04 when Cougar Jahnel Lewis landed a layup (18-26). However, the Eagles swiftly reclaimed their dominant edge with a LaSandra Turner layup handed off from Stevenson, bringing the score to 32-20 with 4:20 on the clock. The orange and purple took their biggest lead of the game at the 1:21 mark (38-21) thanks to a layup from Naj White. The Cougars were able to net a couple in the remaining minute before heading into the break, 40-26.

At the half, the Eagles struggled from three-point land, going 3-for-13, however, they were able to keep an almost 50 percent field goal percentage, going 16-for-33 overall. Post held the lead for the entirety of the first half, with their largest lead was at the 1:21 mark, with a massive 17-point edge (38-21).

Returning from the break, the Cougars almost broke the double-digit lead as Lewis sunk one from downtown but Klein answered back with a three of her own as the graduate student found her grove from behind the arc, landing another layup sandwiched between her second three of the half just 1:15 into the third. The Eagles stayed hot offensively, eventually taking their biggest edge of the game, 55-36 after a layup in the paint from Pagan. However, with 3:34 on the clock the Cougars came within single digits (nine) after a layup in the paint from Brianna Carey, bringing the score to 50-59. In the remaining minutes, the Eagles were able to regain a 12-point lead heading into the final frame, 69-57.

The Eagles stayed hot from three-point land, reclaiming a 14-point lead after a Klein three with 5:54 to go in regulation. The home squad was able to hold on to their extensive lead for the remaining minutes, eventually taking the 93-80 CACC victory.
